PHOTOS OF MONETT
Many Monett residents lent photos and told stories about their city's history. I provided CDs of many of the photos to the library staff in Monett. I used a number of photos from their postcard collection.
Descriptions of these photos -- and many others -- are in the book, Monett, which is available on line or from a number of Barry and Lawrence County, MO stores, including The Lawrence County Record in Mount Vernon and the Barry County Historical Museum in Cassville.
If you take a close look of the 1908 photo you'll see that the horse in the street is pulling the undertaker's wagon. It's probably no coincidence that it is in front of a furniture store. Often the furniture carpenters made the coffins.
